Replacing Patrick Mahomes in Fantasy Football
It’s been one week since your starting QB went down with a knee injury on a questionable play call. We can’t change the fact that Mahomes is hurt, but we can move forward until he gets back. Mahomes has big shoes to fill, and hopefully the rest of your team has been built to withstand a minor set back. Mahomes will be back to playing in a few weeks, and you’ll need a replacement QB to roll out each week in your fantasy lineups.
Matt Moore 3.3% owned
It seems as though the Kansas City Chiefs are going to go with Matt Moore until Mahomes gets back, and that isn’t a flashy name you would likely consider starting in Mahomes’ absence. Moore had 117 passing yards and 1 TD last Thursday and didn’t turn the ball over. Playing Green Bay this week, he might not be your best option, but he is not the worst option out there right now. Andy Reid has a way of making QB’s better. Alex Smith was once the quarterback for the Chiefs and he played very well considering he doesn’t typically throw the ball deep downfield.
Matt Moore should be considered in 12 team or larger leagues. He could also be a good DFS play.
Kirk Cousins 58.1% owned
Cousins has thrown 10 of his 13 TD’s in the past 3 weeks and has nearly 1000 yards over that span. He has started to get his receivers involved downfield and is playing to his strengths now. He has a good core of players around him and he just needed to start getting them involved. His schedule shouldn’t matter for him too much going forward, you won’t have to play him long if you are getting Mahomes back.
Cousins will be a good play moving forward in 10 team leagues or larger. He is a decent play in DFS considering the matchup against Washington.
Jacoby Brissett 55.3% owned
Brissett has played pretty well this season. Last week he torched the Houston defense. Throwing for 326 yards and 4 TD’s, he continues to make plays and keep his team moving forward. He is playing Denver this week and it should be another good showing from Brissett. Denver is not the team they once were and they are starting to show acceptance of that. Moving Sanders this week and looking for other trade partners for other key assets. The Colts should have no problem moving the ball this week, and Jacoby will have plenty of opportunities to make plays and get you the points you need this week.
