There are piles of mock drafts floating around, some great and some just straight trash. I mean the Giants taking a QB in the first round, really? This mock draft is unique and unlike others you will read. It is based on a mix of professional scouting, team needs, high-level rumors, and Austin Smith’s Top 100 Player Board. We will continue with the high-powered NFC West.
Arizona Cardinals
#8- Isaiah Simmons-LB-Clemson
Some rate him higher but the Cardinals land a difference-maker here. He’s a former safety and brings extra help in coverage as well.
#72- Zack Moss-RB-Utah
They unloaded David Johnson and will replace him with Moss. He slides to the third round because of his lack of explosiveness. However, he’s still well-balanced, speedy, and has great vision and patience.
Los Angeles Rams
#52- Ross Blacklock-DT-TCU
Blacklock will join an impressive group of pass-rushers and rum-stoppers. He still needs some coaching up but the stars around him ar ethe best mentors.
#57- Matt Hennessy-C-Temple
His advanced footwork and consistency make it hard to pass on him. He’s projected as a third or fourth round but is still worthy of a second-round selection.
#84- Darnay Holmes-CB-UCLA
Holmes lacks size but makes up for it with his athleticism. The Rams have Ramsey but still need depth and a good opposite starter. As a nickel, he can really reach his potential.
#104- Antonio Gandy-Golden-WR-Liberty
The Rams have talented WRs but lack depth at the position. Gandy-Golden is a speedster who thrives in YAC.
San Francisco 49ers
#13- Henry Ruggs-WR-Alabama
Ruggs is one of the fastest players in the draft. He will compliment Deebo Samuel as the 49ers seem to be building an offense similar to Kansas City.
#31- Cesar Ruiz-OL-Michigan
Cesar can rotate between center and guard. His talents and mobility will serve well with the 49ers, who already have one of the best rushing attacks. Ruiz will help give Garappolo more time in the pocket to make plays.
Seattle Seahawks
#27- Yetur Gross-Matos-DE-Penn St
Clowney seems unlikely to stay with the Seahawks and Gross-Matos is one hell of an edge-rusher. It’s not farfetched to say he will be in the running for DROY.
#59- Bryce Hall-CB-Virginia
Seattle once had a stellar secondary that now needs some rebuilding. There is a small red flag with an ankle injury, but Hall is outstanding and has great range.
#64- Josh Uche-LB-Michigan
Seattle is quietly building a dangerous LB group and adds another beast in Uche. He is labeled as undersized but is explosive off the line.
#101- Kyle Dugger-S-Lenoir-Ryhne
As I mentioned, Seattle needs some extra depth in the secondary. Dugger was a D2 talent but was one of the best safeties in that division. He is physical and would excel the most in the box blitzing.
