There are piles of mock drafts floating around, some great and some just straight trash. I mean the Giants taking a QB in the first round, really? This mock draft is unique and unlike others you will read. It is based on a mix of professional scouting, team needs, high-level rumors, and Austin Smith’s Top 100 Player Board. We will continue with NFC North.
Chicago Bears
#43- Jeremy Chinn-S-Southern Illinois
Chinn was an excellent safety in college against tough competition. He is very disruptive on the field and the Bears will reap the benefits of Chinn.
#50- Robert Hunt-G-Louisiana-Lafayette
The QB may still be an issue with the Bears but they can still bolster their o-line. Hunt is big and strong and very athletic. Hunt could be a steal in the second round.
Detroit Lions
#3- Jeff Okudah-CB-Ohio St
The Lions lost Slay this offseason and Okudah is a good replacement, hopefully great. He can be a shutdown corner in a zone or man scheme.
#35- Jordan Love-QB-Utah St
The Lions wait and land a solid QB here with Love. He seems underrated and has a cannon of an arm. He has traits that a team won’t pass on, even the Lions with Stafford.
#67- Marlon Davidson-DE-Auburn
The Lions used to have a fearful front on defense and Davidson can start bringing that back. He can tear through the middle and stop the run or can get loose on the end to take down the QB.
#85- Ben Bredeson-G-Michigan
Bredeson is consistent and that is what you want in a guard. He excels in protecting his QB and that is good news for either Stafford or Love.
Green Bay Packers
#30- Brandon Aiyuk-WR-Arizona St
There is no true No.2 opposite of Davante Adams and Aiyuk could be the answer. He has great body control and strong hands. His routes are limited from his college experience but that should be coachable.
#62- Raekwon Davis-DE-Alabama
He won’t unseat Kenny Clark at DT but Davis can take a spot on either side of him. He can be a challenge to block against the run but needs more power to be a true pass-rusher.
#94- Albert Okwuegbunam-TE-Missouri
Rodgers needs someone he can easily give a dump pass to in pressure and Okwuegbunam can beat the coverage with ease. It could take time with his limited targets in college but he can mature into a solid starter.
Minnesota Vikings
#22- Damon Arnette-CB-Ohio St
Some people don’t see Arnette as a first-round talent. To me, he has good size and arm length along with great speed. What’s more important is his recovery speed and knowledge of his hands in coverage.
#25- Denzel Mims-WR-Baylor
They let Diggs go and it won’t be easy to replace him. Mims is similar to DeAndre Hopkins in his build and can catch nearly anything thrown his way. He’s not Diggs but can still be a starting WR for Minnesota.
#58- Kenny Robinson-CB-West Virginia
He was one of the best safeties in college and had an impact on the XFL. The Vikings need playmakers in their secondary and Robinson can fill in as a Day 1 starter.
#89- Hakeem Adeniji-OT-Kansas
He was a starting tackle but could line up as a guard as well in the NFL. He’s intelligent and experienced but his footwork is a weakness. If he stays focused, he can find a roster spot and add depth to a squad that allowed 36 sacks on Cousins.
#105- Jason Strowbridge-DL-North Carolina
Strowbridge is great against the run but lacks speeds as a pass-rusher. Still, the Vikings have voids in their defense, and Strowbridge can still contribute to the cause.
