Illinois upsets 6th-ranked Wisconsin

The Big Ten conference has given us a lot of great matchups so far this season. Last week, Illinois Fighting Illini had a close game versus Michigan slip away from them late.

This week, they didn’t let go so easily.

Despite a big game from Heisman hopeful RB Jonathan Taylor, the Wisconsin Badgers couldn’t put the game away. The Badgers led the whole way, by as much as 20-7, but the Illini fought their way back, scoring the last 10 points of the game, to win on a 39-yard field goal with 0:04 left.

Illinois didn’t have a massive day offensively with just 315 total yards, and time of possession less than half of what Wisconsin was able to do. But 2 turnovers late in the 4th quarter by the Badgers offense, helped the Illini claw their way back into the game.

Taylor ended up with 132 yards on 28 carries and a TD. Wisconsin QB Jack Coan was 24 of 32 for 264 yards 1 TD and 1INT.

Illinois QB Brandon Peters finished 9 of 21 for 174 yards and 2  TDs, while RB Reggie Corbin went for 83 yards on 17 carries and 1 TD.

Wisconsin (6-1) plays 4th-ranked Ohio State next week, while Illinois (3-4) plays Purdue.
