Green Bay Packers Top Trade Targets

Football News / NFL / Top Headlines / October 31, 2020

As the trade deadline quickly approaches, The Packers are looking to find great additions to their Super Bowl potential 2020 Team. Failing to add any wide receivers during the 2020 NFL draft, all eyes are on new GM Brian Gutekunst. It is time for Gutekunst to go big and obtain the help the Packers need to win another Super Bowl.

With the Packers only having about 6 million to work with, Veterans with big cap hits this year do not financially look realistic for the Packers. With that in mind, the list of potential player gains is short. Listed are the best possible Packers trade targets from most beneficial to least likely.

  1. Cowboys WR Michael Gallup– Gallup is in his rookie contract with the Dallas Cowboys under former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Gallup is the best possible option for the Packers, Financially, and Positionally. With a base salary of $750,000 in 2020, he wouldn’t eat up a ton of the Packers available funds. A WR with a 1,000 receiving yard year in 2019 already under his belt would be a dream catch for the Packers.
  2. Houston Texans WR Will Fuller V- With five touchdowns in the last five games, Fuller may be one of the few Texans struggling team highlights. With Allen Lazard still on the IR, Fuller would be a massive asset to the Packers. The Packers left all fans scratching their heads after gaining a quarterback but no receivers in the 2020 draft. Fuller could quickly help the offense.
  3. Browns TE David Njoku– Njoku asked to be traded last season, and just this past week asked again. He was outstanding in their Sunday 37-34 win over the Bengals. Njoku would be a great addition to the Packers passing game. For the rest of 2020, he would only cost around 1.2 Million. The Browns do not seem very interested in trading him at the moment, which would require Gutekunst to get creative.
  4. Bengals WR John Ross- Also at the end of his rookie contract and asking for a trade is Cincinnati Bengals, WR John Ross. Ross, unhappy with his playing time, would like a fresh start. Red flags rise quickly with Ross. His career has been plagued with injuries and inconsistency on the field. He has only been active for two games this season. Ross would be an excellent asset to the Matt Leflur offense if they can get the ball into his hands. With a cap hit of 5.4 Million in 2021, it is an unlikely trade for the Packers with several high profile free agents of their own in 2021.
  5. Texans DE JJ Watt- A Wisconsin treasure, three-time NFL defensive player of the year, and overall consistent DE. A quarterback’s worst nightmare is Watt. He could give the Packers defense a boost. It’s been no secret that Watt is not happy with the Texans, but with Watt making 15.5 Million this season, he is the least likely trade pick up for the Packers.

Lets hope that Gutekunst and the Packers has better sense then he did during the NFL draft. Wisconsinites everywhere would love him forever, if he worked the miracle to bring Watt back home!
